http://www.softschools.com/language_arts/phonics/games/magic_e_sounds.jsp

This website is free and has activities for all subjects but it has activities for English language learners and Phonics. Parents can connect to this website and select the game or activity that suites best for the skill being learned. It can be any word family, blends, r controlled vowels, or silent E. This website has activities for students to learn syllabication or decoding.
This activity doesn't need any material or parental involvement but just a little time to learn and show the child how it can be played and students learn while playing without recognizing that they are learning but actually having fun. This is an interactive activity that will work best with visual and kinesthetic learners.

Activity 2:

Parents can interact with the child and explain them the different jobs of E. They get to learn and remember the jobs that E carry's with him. Make some flashcards for silent E with cute illustrations that can explain the job.

Well, I have (E here is the supporter E b/c english words do not end in v or u) been so pleased with SWR. There are 5 silent E's.

#1 is the strong man E, "The vowel sound changes b/c of the E",

#2 is the supporter E "English words do not end in v and u"

#3 is the softening E "the c says /s/ and the g says /j/ b/c of the E"

#4 is the sidekick E "Every syllable must have a vowel" (this is perfect for little, battle, etc)

#5 E is the odd job E, "A silent final E hat does any odd job not covered by the other 4". (dense, awe, ore, giraffe)

Hope that helps!

Activity 3:

Create a simple game board (racetrack, snake, or winding road) and write a silent e
word or those with short vowel sounds (listed below) in each square. Students can
move around the board by reading a word correctly and advancing. The student who
reaches the finish line first wins. To add an additional element to the game, include a
point value for each word.

bake
bone
cake
date
dive
fake
file
fine
gate
hide
hole
home
huge
life
none
pale
rake
ride
safe
sale
snake
time
wake
whale
while

Activity 4:

Parents can have the list of silent e words and let the students make them. For this activity student will need a board, some sand and a comfortable are to sit and work at without spilling it. Parents can help the student spell the word, this will help the student to learn not only the sounds of these words but they will learn to write them also.

Activity 5:

Create a "Silent e" puppet (first grade-second grade)
Supplies:
paper bag
crayons
colored pencils
construction paper
sissors

Have the student create a puppet out of the paper bag that has a silent e sound name, for example, Mice. Have the student write down names of activities or things the puppet does or has, for example: bake, rake, cake, race, etc. The student can decortate the bag.
